Opportunity Information: Apply for PD SEOUL FY25 05
The U.S. Embassy in Seoul is offering up to $100,000 through the “Promoting U.S. Space Leadership and International Cooperation” grant, aimed at strengthening U.S.–South Korea partnerships in space policy and governance. Open only to Republic of Korea organizations—including NGOs, educational institutions, and government bodies—the program seeks to boost understanding of U.S. space policy, support Korean voices in the space sector, and counter outdated narratives about Korea’s space cooperation with other countries such as Russia.
At its core, the program will bring together around 30 Korean experts and 3–4 American counterparts for one or two days of closed-door tabletop exercises. These exercises will explore space-related legal, technological, and geopolitical challenges, producing recommendations to guide future U.S. and ROK space policies. Topics include responsible conduct in space, international law, and the strategic implications of commercial space use.
Eligible participants range from scientists and engineers to lawmakers, legal professionals, business leaders, academics, and journalists. Public sessions will follow the private exercises, allowing the broader community to engage with the outcomes.
Proposals must include a clear U.S. connection—such as collaboration with American institutions or experts—and should demonstrate experience running similar bilateral programs. The U.S. Embassy will be actively involved in the project’s design and execution to ensure alignment with American public diplomacy goals.
